LIBRARY OF DREAMS, an interactive VR experience exploring how dreams reveal the psychological impact of political repression and war, has received funding support from Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM). The project was awarded EUR 45,000 through German co-producer Abduct Media as part of MDM’s Production New Media funding decisions.
Led by the artistic vision of artist and director Jane Rzheznikova, Library of Dreams is now moving closer to full production. The project is produced by Georgian-Israeli studio Less Media Group and developed as an international co-production with Germany-based XR studio Abduct Media, represented by Davide Maria Emanuel Cocchiara and Giovanni Cocchiara.
Based on real dream accounts from the Third Reich, the Soviet Union, and modern-day Russia, Library of Dreams invites audiences into an interconnected dream universe where the subconscious becomes a space of collective memory. The experience builds on documentary research and the pioneering work of German author Charlotte Beradt, whose book The Third Reich of Dreams laid the foundation for the study of political dreams.
The MDM support marks another important step for the project following its previous development milestones, including presentations and participation connected to Sunny Side of the Doc, European Creators Lab, Venice Biennale College Cinema — Immersive, Venice Production Bridge, and NewImages XR Development Market.
